shell jewelrySep. 30, 2009

I remember how nervous I was sitting up on the shell jewelry altar in front of all my guests on my wedding day. I was just hoping that I wouldn't mess up my vows, or trip on my train, or commit some other embarrassing bridal faux pas. What kept me calm was thinking to myself, "Tomorrow, we will be on the beach." Anticipating a relaxing honeymoon with my soon-to-be-husband was the best anecdote for my bridal jitters.

The word honeymoon dates back to the shell pearl jewelry sixteenth century, and it derived from the sweetness of that magical first month of marriage. It was not until the nineteenth century that a honeymoon came to mean a trip, usually to see friends and family who were not at the wedding. Today, the honeymoon can mean a weekend or a month, a beach resort or a ski trip, roughing it in the woods or living it up in the lap of luxury. It does not matter where you go, or for how long, what matters is that the newlyweds have that special time set aside just for each other.

Beaches have long been top choices for romantic getaways. Every year, destinations like Hawaii and Mexico are ranked as some of the best places for honeymooners. Other popular choices include Italy and Las Vegas. Couples who have "green" weddings are also opting for honeymoons at eco-friendly (but still luxurious) resorts all over the world. Outdoorsy types might prefer a camping trip, whereas sailing enthusiasts might cruise the Caribbean aboard a private yacht.

Wherever you choose to sterling silver jewelry go, make sure that your trip is relaxing and romantic. Little things like dressing up for dinner every night, or wearing your wedding jewelry will make your honeymoon feel even more special. This is the time to do all those wonderful sappy things like stroll on a moonlit beach or sip champagne together in a bathtub. A really sweet thing that a man can do for his new bride is to present her with a gift on the first night of their honeymoon, just to show her how much she is cherished. It would be especially appropriate to give her a piece of jewelry that goes with her wedding jewelry ensemble.

Whatever you do, don't put off your honeymoon. Even if you only have a couple of days before you are due back at work, go somewhere romantic together. A weekend spent at a charming bed and breakfast is a much better way to freshwater pearl jewelry enjoy your first few days as newlyweds than going right back to your everyday life. Reality reasserts itself all too quickly after the dreamy time leading up to a wedding - enjoy the bliss of newly married life as long as you can.

loose freshwater pearlSep. 30, 2009

Most sources quote the loose freshwater pearl company manufactured jewellery from the sixties to the seventies. However this is untrue. Exquisite jewellery was produced by the company called W A P Watson Ltd. here is the companies time line:

1909 to 1914 - Walter Archibald Parker Watson had a small factory in Hockley Hill, Birmingham manufacturing chains and then gilt jewellery.

1914 W A P Watson sold his company to loose akoya pearl Augustus Harry Power and Clarence Oswald Flint. They kept the name and subsequently became W A P Watson LTD

1914 to 1934 Following the First World War, Messrs Power and Flint became skilled in producing costume jewellery. The original number of employees was 6 and it was during this time the range of jewellery was named Exquisite.

1934 The company with its 125 employees moved to Hampton Street in the Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter. They also had premises in Mary Street. Now not only producing jewellery but also crested souvenirs.

1937 to 1954 W A P Watson ceased manufacturing jewellery during the Second World War but concentrated on helping the war effort. Following the war, Exquisite jewellery and the souvenirs production continued. But with increased demand and the confined space available in the Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter, the freshwater loose pearl Powers looked for larger premises. Augustus son's Wallis and Jack had now become the managing directors

1954 to 1977 The company moved in 1954 to Vulcan Road Solihull. Expanded and introduced the Mirella trade name of gold plated picture frames, mirrors, pens and small pill boxes.  Getting Wed at Your Alma Mater

Many couples meet in college, so it is pearl necklace only natural that they want to be married where it all started. Most colleges have beautiful chapels that are a perfect place to marry your college sweetheart (for example, my sister-in-law was wed at the Princeton chapel). Whether you live down the road, or have moved away since graduation, your college campus will be a wonderful nostalgic place for your wedding.

One of the best parts about having your wedding at your alma mater is getting your old college gang back together for the wedding weekend. Invite everyone to come a few days before the wedding, so that you can have an informal gathering at your old hangout the night before the rehearsal dinner. With people scattered so far and wide these days, make the most of the opportunity to have all of your friends in one place for a relaxed evening. (You won't really get time to visit with people during your wedding reception. The bride will be lucky if she gets three bites of her dinner between greeting guests.)

There are some wonderful (and tasteful) ways that you can pay tribute to your alma mater during your wedding reception. You can incorporate your school colors into everything from the flowers, to the candles, to the wholesale pearl jewelry cake. I have also seen fantastic wedding cakes created that have a college motif on them, such as a replica of the chapel or other building on top. Tiny mascots might also make cute cake toppers, but keep it subtle.

The bride can also include little college related touches in her ensemble, depending how far she wants to carry a theme. A simple way to do it would be to use the school colors in her wedding jewelry. For instance, if your colors are blue and white, have custom earrings handcrafted with white pearls and pale blue Swarovski crystals. You could also let the location of your alma mater become a design element. If you went to the University of Hawaii (lucky you!), why not wear wedding jewelry with a monogrammed shell motif? It would be both unique and personal.

Another lovely idea is to single strand necklace choose flowers and favors that are related to your alma mater or its' location. State flowers are often beautiful, so a University of Alabama grad could choose exquisite camellias for her bouquet, and the Maryland Terrapin could festoon her reception with black eyed Susans. To set the tone from the beginning, have your invitations custom made with an image of the flower that you have chosen to feature (another great idea for stationary would be to use a letterpress image of a distinctive campus building - almost every college has one).

Of course, no wedding on campus would be complete without this one element: when you make your grand entrance to the reception as husband and wife, be sure to play your college fight song! It is the perfect way to show your loyalty and to get the party going.

freshwater pearl earringsSep. 30, 2009

If you are new to the world of freshwater pearl earrings online auctions, you might have the impression that there is nothing but eBay. While eBay is massive and constantly advertises the fact that you can find "it" on eBay, there are other services available. Whether you are just setting out as an online seller, want to switch sites, or diversify your sales channel, it might be worthwhile to look at alternatives.

You should be aware, though, that using eBay has its advantages. It is much larger than its competitors (see http://www.powersellersunite.com/auctionsitewatch.php), which translates into an anormous amount of traffic. And it is freshwater pearl pendant a recognized brand that spends a lot on marketing.

However, eBay also has its disadvantages. The fees for sellers are relatively high, many categories have fierce price competition, and there are recurring technical glitches and dubious "improvements" (such as giving sellers overly optimistic arrival dates during the holiday shipping season).

Where can you find alternatives? Here are some URLs to get you started:
# http://theauctionboard.com/onlineauctions.html
# http://www.powersellersunite.com/about7.html

As you can see, there are numerous other sites out there. Before signing up with one (or several) of them, you should ask a few questions:
# How long has the site been in business? Who stands behind it?
# What is its fee structure, both for listing and final value fees?
# Which forms of payment can you accept on this site?
# How much activity is there in your product category?

The last question is pearl jewelry particularly important. A low-cost or even free auction site will be useless for you, if there is little traffic in your category. Even a free listing costs you the time you need to create it!

Once you have answered these questions, you may decide to go with one of the established competitors (yahoo.com, overstock.com), choose a smaller site (bluejay.com, ecrater.com) or go for a niche site that specializes in such items as pinball machines (pinballmachines.com) or bead jewelry (justbeads.com). Of course there is always the option of building your own web store to sell your items.

Last month, the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) won an overwhelming victory over the country's long dominant Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). The playground equipment result marked only the second time the LDP has lost power since its creation in 1955.

The DPJ was founded in 1998 as an opposition party forged from outcasts of the LDP and the Japan Socialist Party, as well as other smaller parties and a sizable cadre of younger politicians. This unlikely mix had dealt an earlier blow to the LDP in 2007, when it became the largest party in the upper house of the Japanese Diet. Now, with its victory in the inflatable bouncers general election, it will form a new government and select a prime minister -- in all likelihood, Yukio Hatoyama, who replaced the visionary and forceful Ichiro Ozawa as leader of the party last May.

But despite the DPJ's convincing triumph, many observers in both Japan and the West remain doubtful about its capacity to govern. Some believe that the party's members hold fundamentally contradictory positions; others assert that regardless of the party's intentions it will be unable to control Japan's powerful bureaucracy. Such fears are misplaced, however. Although international reaction since the election has focused on the DPJ's calls to move Japan away from the market reforms of the past several decades, the party's electoral platform hews to the political mainstream.

Specifically, it has pledged to shore up the country's pensions and health systems, protect farmers and small and medium-size businesses (both traditional LDP constituencies), assist the swelling ranks of the working poor and temporary laborers, and provide child allowances. To fund such programs, the party promises to cut wasteful spending -- a side effect of decades of naughty castles misrule by the LDP and a bloated bureaucracy.

For the United States, the main question is whether a DPJ government can be trusted as a reliable steward of the historically strong U.S.-Japanese alliance. Leaders of the DPJ have argued that the bureaucratic state has kept Japan from responding to the many problems facing the country: an aging, shrinking population, stagnant economic growth in the provinces, inefficient and corrupt government institutions, and an obsolete economic growth model. Their transition plan envisions a drastic shift of power from the bureaucracy to the prime minister's cabinet, including the right to appoint personnel, intervene in the promotion of bureaucrats, and draft the budget. In fact, the DPJ aims to remake the state budget from scratch, as Japan's onerous debt burden -- nearly 180 percent of GDP -- thwarts the government's ability to tackle pressing concerns.

But in Japan, the entrenched interests of the bureaucrats represent a substantial political force, and any serious effort at reform will surely encounter hostility. The strategy of the DPJ focuses on harnessing public opinion as a weapon to compel the bureaucracy to yield to the country's new political leadership. Even more important, the DPJ will need sympathizers within the state bureaucracy itself, especially in the finance ministry, which will be an important ally in cutting wasteful spending.

Such an approach seems possible. In the months before the election, DPJ leaders met with senior officials from the ministries of finance, foreign affairs, and economy, trade, and industry, suggesting that both sides are eager for a relatively smooth transition. Both groups stand to benefit: the DPJ must pass elements of its manifesto before the game machines upper house election in July 2010, and the country's bureaucracy has little to lose in making tactical concessions in the DPJ's early days in power.

For the United States, the main question is whether a DPJ government can be trusted as a reliable steward of the historically strong U.S.-Japanese alliance. The Bush administration pushed Japan to embrace a more expansive security role -- contributing its military forces to U.S.-led operations abroad, cooperating on missile defense, and revising its legal and constitutional framework to permit a more active security policy -- while offering little in return but the U.S. security guarantee. And the presence of more than 30,000 U.S. military personnel in bases across the leisure chairs archipelago means this guarantee has often felt more like a burden than a benefit.

This perception of an unequal alliance between the two countries has boosted the popularity of the DPJ. The party sees relations with the United States as only one pillar in a three-pillared foreign policy, which includes cooperation among Asian countries and with the United Nations and other international institutions.

Although there are some disagreements in the DPJ about the details of Japan's foreign policy, a recent survey of the party's candidates found that 18 percent desire a foreign policy that emphasizes the U.S.-Japanese alliance above all else, while 62 percent want a foreign policy centered on Asia. This, in fact, is not all that different from the approach of recent LDP prime ministers, including Taro Aso, who acknowledge that Japan has to balance between its relationship with the United States, its most important security partner, and China, increasingly its most important economic partner. Significant change, however, will take time.

Hamas and Its DiscontentsSep. 16, 2009

Last month, Hamas security forces stormed the Ibn-Taymiyah mosque in the Gaza town of Rafah, killing a number of members of pearl jewelry an insurgent Islamic sect called Jund Ansar Allah (JAA), along with the group's leader, Abdel-Latif Moussa. The violent clash was a reminder of the mounting difficulties Hamas has faced in consolidating its power in Gaza since Israel's military campaign there this past January -- as well as its resolve to suppress, even crush, any challenges to its authority. In recent months, Hamas has developed an increasingly acrimonious relationship with the various salafi groups in the Gaza Strip, and the battle at the Ibn-Taymiyah mosque marked a new low in this struggle. It is likely that from the ruins of the mosque emerged the Palestinian Islamists' first important martyr.

On August 14, Moussa and about a hundred of his followers, including armed men strapped with explosive belts, holed themselves in the mosque. The pearl pendant conflict between Hamas and JAA, a relative newcomer to the family of Palestinian militant groups, had been brewing for a few weeks. Hamas had accused the group of bombing Internet cafés, music stores, foreign schools, and weddings -- allegations the group denied. In turn, JAA complained that Hamas had persecuted its members, confiscated money and equipment worth $120,000, and even tried to kidnap its Syrian military commander, Abu Abdallah al-Muhajir. At the mosque, Moussa and his followers refused to surrender to the Hamas forces gathered outside, and ensuing fighting left 22 dead.

The question is why Hamas -- which prides itself on being an Islamist movement -- used such violence against a fellow Islamist group.

Moussa and the JAA challenged the core of wish pearl Hamas' legitimacy -- its credentials as a religious movement. When it joined the Palestinian political system before elections in January 2006, Hamas presented itself as the Islamic alternative to the secular, corrupt, and failing Fatah movement. But as it gained political power, Hamas learned how difficult it is to maintain an image of religious purity and began to reconsider its strategy.

As its position in Gaza has grown weaker, Hamas has shown itself more willing to take extreme measures to squash emerging threats to its authority. Hamas gradually found itself exposed to many of the same accusations it had previously directed at the Palestinian Authority. Jihadi organizations, particularly al Qaeda, criticized Hamas' willingness to join a democratic political process, which they perceived as contradicting Islam. This criticism increased after Hamas gained complete control over Gaza in June 2007. Salafis had hoped to implement sharia law in Gaza and were outraged when Hamas declared -- in an effort to assuage local fears and to freshwater pearl ring project a moderate image to the international community -- that it would not do so. To Palestinian salafis, this was the ultimate betrayal. Indeed, in his last sermon, Moussa said that Hamas' authority to govern was tied to its willingness to implement sharia, and he warned that without it Hamas is no more than a secular party using the slogans of Islam.

Hard-line groups such as JAA have also denounced Hamas' differing policies toward the Islamists and Israel. According to their accusations, Hamas is targeting the salafis, or the true believers -- arresting them and stealing their property -- while it avoids attacking Israel, even protecting it by preventing Islamist groups from carrying out attacks. Moussa declared that, unlike Hamas, the JAA never directed its weapons against its Muslim brothers.

As long as this challenge was restricted to fiery rhetoric, Hamas appeared willing to tolerate it. But when Moussa announced the establishment of an Islamic emirate in Gaza, he crossed Hamas' red line. The declaration suggested that JAA intended to move beyond vocal criticism in resisting Hamas' control over Gaza. Such an interpretation may not have been far from the truth -- Moussa called for citizens in Gaza to join the emirate and bring their weapons to the mosque.

The resulting clash revealed that although Hamas and the secular Fatah remain the primary Palestinian factions, new and increasingly influential alternative power bases have emerged. This proliferation of salafi groups has placed additional constraints on Hamas. Now, when crafting policy, it must not only take into account Fatah, Israel, and the international community but also a vocal and extreme Islamic opposition at home. This leaves it uncomfortably stuck between two forces. In one example, its popularity declined when it imposed some Islamic legal and behavior codes on Gaza, yet such measures failed to satisfy the salafis who demanded the full implementation of sharia law.

Although these Islamist challengers are still small in number, they are enjoying a boost in public support and represent a growing worry for Hamas. This is perhaps unsurprising, given the declining support for Hamas among Palestinians and its precarious position in Gaza. The Israeli military campaign weakened Hamas by exposing its failure to deliver on its promises. Gaza suffered greatly from the offensive, whereas Hamas demonstrated little ability to akoya pearl beads inflict significant losses on the Israeli side. Eight months after the fighting, Hamas has been unable to get the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip lifted, and reconstruction has barely started.
